Linda Friedman Ramirez, P.A.

Attorney Linda Friedman Ramirez has emphasized the representation of foreign nationals in criminal matters since opening her practice in 1981.

In more than 30 years of experience, Ms. Ramirez developed her professional practice in the areas of federal and state criminal defense, appeals, post-conviction, wrongful death, and civil rights.

Her trial experience includes over 100 jury trials in federal and state court, as well as hundreds of pretrial hearings, motions, bench trials, administrative hearings, and state and federal appeals.

She is peer review rated on Martindale.com, and is rated as Superb on Avvo.com.

In 2002 the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association honored her with the President’s Award for her advocacy on behalf of the Hispanics in Oregon.

She has represented clients from countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Ms. Ramirez speaks Spanish, and is on the Roster of Fulbright Senior Specialists. She routinely works with attorneys abroad.

Linda Friedman Ramirez is a life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the European Criminal Bar Association.

She is admitted to practice in federal court in Florida, the federal 3rd, 4th, 9th and 11th Circuits Court of Appeals, and the US Supreme Court. She has been a Consulting Attorney to the Consulates in Portland, Oregon and Orlando, Florida.

She has been invited to present at a number of state and national conferences for attorneys, and has written extensively on international criminal law issues. She is the Editor of Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense Second and Third Editions. (See Publications.)


In the summer of 1998, Ms. Ramirez partnered with the Mexican Consulate in Portland in creating "Advice Regarding the Federal Crime of Illegal Reentry," a video in Spanish concerning immigration consequences for non-citizens pending state criminal court proceedings.

This video, which was shown on a repeated basis by the Multnomah County Sheriff's office, was used to help educate defendants from Mexico and Central America on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions and the law of the federal criminal of illegal reentry.
